Therapy Tuesday
Mom has been working on conducting a
Delta Pet Partner Workshop.
This workshop is to provide new pet partner teams
the tools and knowledge
to complete a
SUCCESSFUL EVALUATION!
Its been quit difficult to get everyones schedules
to mesh
Well it finally has happened.
Dates where scheduled
January 5th, 8th, 12th and 13th, 2011
and
Six Teams have been confirmed to participate.
Bert and Jo Lee (Small Standard Poodle)
Jan and Maggie (King Charles Spaniel)
Marti/Jack and Jake (Spaniel Mix)
Joan and Monty (Miniature Poodle)
Miriam and Darby (Greyhound)
Margo and Iggy (Chi/Pom Mix)
We would like to
THANK
these teams
and
Wish them
LUCK
On their journey to becoming
Registered Delta Pet Partner Teams!
The first date
Wednesday, January 5th
was the first of two handler and dog classes.
This class proved to the handlers,
that pet therapy isn't just about having a cute
partner!
There is so much more.
Here is a link to what our
Delta Evaluator/Instructor
Sue Grundfest
of
Las Vegas Love Dog
had to say about our first dates.
The second date
Saturday, January 8th, 2011
was a very long day
which we all had to make a trip to
Las Vegas, Nevada
the dogs got to stay home except for
Brutus and Tytus.
DeBoy's had to go to work
and be
EVALUATED
with lots and lots of kids
from the ages of
infants to 8 year olds.
The first stop of the day was to give our new teams
a look at a
Library Visit
(classified as a high stress level for pet therapy)
Pet Therapy teams need to know how to handle the unknown,
how many kids
what ages
naughty or nice.
This evaluation wasn't just any evaluation,
many eyes where watching:
eye's of the new teams
(thats 12 eye's)
and
the eye's of the kids
(way to many to count but the best one's)
and
eye's of
THE
EVALUATOR
SUE!
As we entered the library room
we were reminded,
"one mess up and your out of the room"
No Problem,
we said
"there is nothing to be worried about"
We
Love
Kids!
Well, here are a few photos of us at the library
with lots and lots of kids
loving, hugging, petting, feeling
us all at the same time.
At times we would say we had at least 4 sets of hands on us
during the whole story time.
Now its your turn to put your evaluating eye's on us.
(no idea how many eye's now)
How do you think we did?

The next two dates have been postponed
due to
knee surgery.
We all wish you well as you recover from your surgery.

Baby Sitting
Boy oh Boy,
we have been
Baby Sitting
for the last four days.
The first day
What on earth are these?
No, not bunnies.
Maybe kittens, no.
Mom, says they are puppies
and we have to be
SUPER CAREFUL.
OK, if these are puppies what are we suppose to do with these guys?
They're not any bigger than our heads.
In fact
Our bunnies are bigger!
Our duties were to keep an eye on them.
Brutus you watch the little one over there!
And, I will watch this one over here!
Meet Little Miss
she is the one Brutus is watching.
and
the little boy puppy
with no name, yet.
He is the one I am watching.
BUNNIES?
maybe the energizer bunnies
because
they never stop!
Tytus, I have a plan
you take first watch
while I catch a couple minutes
of
shut eye.
Brutus it's your turn to
WATCH!
Mom
Please
let us bring them in for a
NAP!
Shhhhhh
The babies are almost asleep.
REALLY
Don't Make A Sound
PLEASE
We want them to sleep as long as possible.
Aren't they so
CUTE!
Sleeping
Do You Want To
Play
With Me?
Brutus is on watch again,
I'm going to
lounge up here
for awhile.
So, that little miss can't get my feet.
I was busted
Little Miss
your not so
bad.
We have done
our best
Baby Sitting.
and
Quit proud of the things we
have
learned
and
TAUGHT!
Did you know that it is
custom
for a
Baby Sitter
to teach
the little one's
something
Good or Bad!
We really did have fun these last four days.
Getting to know these little guys.
So, we hope that the lesson we
TAUGHT
won't make this
our
First and Last
Baby Sitting Job!

Weekly Quest For Good Hiking Trail
Today we have started our quest for hiking trails in our area -- our goal is to find a new trail to travel o
r explore deeper into trails we have already traveled on a weekly bases. Well we started out on a trail from the Washington City Park that was to take us down along the river, so that we could play in the water. No luck for a good trail, it was very short and no access to the river water. We didn't allow this to stop us on our quest, so loaded back into the car and drove up the road to find our first trail of our quest.
We followed the tortoise fence to find access to the Red Cliffs Desert Tortoise Habitat. "Hey Brutus," says Tytus, "I think we better bring water next time, it is getting hot out."
And, here we are still traveling this unknown trail to us to find the access gate. The terrain so far is sandy, desert, hills, gulley's and a few desert flowers. Brutus wants to know if we are there yet...
Here we are at our resting point, turn around spot. We will defently be continuing this hike...Access found...next time continue onto find the Elephant Rock...clear up into those red rocks behind us. Definetly will be bringing water with us, next time.
